A Resource Portal for Automotive Dealers, Industry Vendors and Advertising Agencies

AdAgencyOnline.Net Presents Automotive Advertising “Network Of Networkers” At NADA

Ad Agency Online, L.L.C., (AAOL), was formed in December of 2001 as an online communication / distribution system linking a national network of affiliated automotive advertising agencies. At that time social networking was in its infancy, but the Internet based resources that AAOL provided to its auto dealer and auto industry vendor clients allowed the automotive advertising networking community to recognize the importance of social networking on the Internet before conventional automotive advertising agencies understood the opportunity.

Philip Zelinger is the President of Ad Agency Online, L.L.C. and host of the automotive advertising networking site – AdAgencyOnline.Net. Philip established the automotive advertising resource portal to provide an online forum for his affiliated agencies, production partners and auto dealer clients to review potential vendors and share best practices. The site integrated a blog talk radio station – WAAOL, All Automotive Advertising News All The Time – to conduct open business meetings on blog talk radio shows, such as “Lunch With Phil Discussing Automotive Advertising.” The success of the live interactive online discussions and the ability to download podcasts for later review or distribution created a growing audience of auto industry insiders that tuned to the blog talk radio shows to listen and learn.

As a result, AdAgencyOnline.Net added the “Lunch With Ralph Discussing Automotive Advertising” show. Ralph Paglia is the National Director Of Digital marketing for ADP and host of his own auto industry networking portal, www.automotivedigitalmarketing.com , (ADM). Ralph discusses digital marketing applications and developing Internet based technologies in an open forum shared with Philip Zelinger. The audience of automotive advertising decision makers attracted to these first two shows suggested the need for another forum which featured interviews with other automotive advertising experts that provided the name for the site’s now most popular show, “Automotive Advertising Experts.”

AdAgencyOnline.Net has an admittedly different agenda than other auto industry social networking/blogging sites followed and supported by Philip Zelinger such as; ADM – hosted by Ralph Paglia, www.DealerRefresh.Com – hosted by Jeff Kershner, www.DrivingsSales.Com – hosted by Jared Hamilton, http://imacsweb.typepad.com/ – hosted by Gary May, http://www.scottmonty.com/ – hosted by Scott Monty and www.askpatty.com – hosted by Jody Devere. Philip explained the difference between his site and these others, along with his respect for the true value of social networking as an honest exchange of ideas, in a recent letter to an associate to present his concept of a “Network Of Networkers” that he will be introducing during the 2009 NADA Convention to be held in New Orleans January 24th through January 27th 2009.

“My site was developed as a “portal” in front of our online communication/distribution system for our affiliated agencies. We placed our client log-in to our previous site on the portal to introduce our dealer clients to our vendor/client links, blog talk radio and “press releases” designed to present the leveraged resources provided by Ad Agency Online, L.L.C. My “end game” was to help my affiliated agencies expose our auto dealer clients to Internet based applications and selling processes whenever they logged in to select an advertisement or review their budgets. It provided an opportunity for our account executives to suggest ways to supplement our auto dealer’s conventional advertising and it has been extremely successful in shifting our clients onto the Internet – which is where the customers are!”

“In maturing my site I invested time on other auto industry social networking sites to listen and learn as well as teach. I know that sounds corny, but it allowed me access to auto industry networking communities with fellow “visionaries” focused on the changing auto industry that supports all of our families. I have been promoting linked “social networking – blog based” sites to both my dealer and vendor clients to extend their SEO, but their true added value is to provide the information and content demanded by today’s online shoppers that prefer “relationship” based messages over a hard sales pitch.”

“That is why I am developing a consumer/dealer/consultant facing social networking site supported by one of my vendor clients – www.everycarlisted.com (ECL) – that I would like to share with my friends! The networking site will be a “micro-site” supported by the online traffic developed by existing strategic partnerships with ECL as well as both conventional and online marketing investments that they will be applying to drive traffic to the portal. The concept is to establish a “network of networkers” with a priority on content sourced from auto industry consultants, auto dealers that have their own blogging forums and even consumers that have registered with ECL. The site will be promoted as “Auto Industry Insights”, (AII), with consultants, dealers and consumers sharing “best practices” and real world experiences. Our primary need is for content with the leveraged SEO earned by linking with established networks as a welcome added value for all involved parties.”

According to Philip, based on existing opportunities it is virtually guaranteed that ECL will enjoy one million unique visitors per month to their site by the end of Q1 2009 and a realistic projection of two million per month by Q4. All of these visitors to ECL will be invited to visit AII to learn about the auto industry and to discuss their experiences in buying or selling their vehicles with fellow consumers and open minded dealers that will be supporting and contributing to the social networking community.

Philip sent the above quoted letter to the hosts of the auto industry social networking sites mentioned in this article offering them a position on a six member “Advisory Panel” for AII. An additional “open” invitation was posted by Philip on ADM in a discussion that he started on the portal; http://adpadm.ning.com/profiles/blogs/teaching-the-teachers-is-job .

All of the invited hosts have accepted the post and will be contributing to the leveraged resources that their communal effort will provide to auto dealers, vendors, automotive advertising agencies and consumers. A dedicated landing page within AII will link to selected articles, links or content that would be of interest to site visitors. Each of these independent networkers will have exclusive control of their postings and will provide reciprocal links to their networks – creating the “network of networks” envisioned by Philip Zelinger.

The first meeting of the “Advisory Panel” for “Auto Industry Insights” will be held on Saturday, January 24th 2009 at 7:00PM during the NADA Convention in New Orleans. The dinner / meeting will be hosted at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in their Mélange Restaurant. The location is a “first class” kick off to a joint venture of qualified and experienced auto industry insiders and automotive advertising experts that have committed their time, wisdom and existing auto industry social networking sites to this shared social networking community.

Dale Boone and Darrell Campbell from EveryCarListed.Com will be hosting the meeting. It is the first time that they will be able to share their vision with the advisory panel members and the first time for many of the consultants to meet in the “real world.” The support offered to AII by www.EveryCarListed.Com will be limited to technical and marketing issues. All of the “moderator” functions providing content and monitoring comments will be handled by the advisory panel following conventional “social networking” guidelines to insure that consultants, dealers and most importantly consumers are able to speak freely on the site.

EveryCarListed.Com, (ECL) is an automotive advertising website hosting the inventory of thousands of auto dealerships and millions of vehicles. ECL will admittedly be enhancing their site traffic by developing this reciprocal link with the established auto industry blogging sites and auto industry experts that will be co-hosting Auto Industry Insights. The links are a welcome SEO tool for all parties, however, the blogs and the related information that they will provide to site visitors, dealers and consumers is a more valued resource and a key differentiator for ECL.

The auto industry has recognized the Internet as a cost effective way to market to consumers, however, many auto dealers and their automotive advertising agencies do not understand the unique protocols that have developed for social networking sites. The success of AdAgencyOnline.Net and the growing use of social networking sites like Face book, My Space and Twitter are based on their ability to moderate consumer forums without controlling them. The focus of AII to link this type of online community with their main websites to provide additional information will earn the trust of site visitors. Social networking sites provide an open forum that allows consumers and auto dealers to share experiences as well as ideas when deciding who to do business with. Of course the added value of increasing the search engine optimization, SEO, of the parent site makes the extended exposure an even more effective marketing tool for auto dealers already supporting EveryCarListed.com.

AdAgencyOnline.Net has a following of automotive advertising agencies, auto dealers, auto industry vendors and O.E.M. representatives that have shared in the success of their automotive advertising resource/networking portal.
